Poker hand nicknames that has been developed by poker players over the years
Steel wheel: Straight flush, ace to five – This is a premium hand, consisting of sequential suited cards from the Ace through to the Five.
Four Pips: Four of a kind, aces – Ranked just below the former, this hand occurs when a player holds all four aces in a standard pack.
Full Boat: Full house – This hand contains three matching cards of one rank, plus two matching cards of another rank.
Golf Bag: Flush of clubs – This term requires a hand holding five suited clubs… in no particular order. A sure-fire way to instill fear into even the most experienced of players.
Wheel: Straight, ace to five – This occurs when a player is holding five cards of different suits that succeed one another.
Three Wise Men: Three of a kind, kings – A player is in possession of three of the four Kings in a standard deck has achieved the Three Wise Men hand.
Slot Machine: Three of a kind, sevens – This term was derived back in the days of old where three 7’s was a popular winning combination on the one-arm bandit slot machines.
Devil's hand: Three of a kind, sixes – Referring to the wickedness of the number 666, this term constitutes three sixes in any of the players’ hands.
Huey, Dewey and Louie: Three of a kind, deuces – Not ranked as highly as the Devil’s Hand, this hand illustrates that a given player has three of the four twos available within a standard pack of playing cards.
Big Bobtail: One outside straight flush draw – This is when a player has been dealt a hand that is one card short of that all-important Straight Flush.
