PKR Beta Testing Review
PKR BONUS CODE is : rivered this entitles you to 8% rakeback.Described by Poker Player Magazine as "the future of online poker" rivered thought that we had better play on the PKR software ourselves to see what all the fuss was about.
Download the PKR demo trailer.

The PKR website claims that their softwares, "richly rendered 3D environments and emphasis on human interaction, puts the soul into online poker. But it's not just about graphics and interaction as PKR also offers all the poker features that you'll find anywhere else plus a few more."

There is no doubt that PKR does look good once the software has loaded, it's no longer a 2D view of a poker table with names in boxes, it is now a poker table in 3D which can be viewed from several different angles and also a series of 3D characters that can be customised within certain boundaries. You can also control your character as he/she sits in the game. You can look around the table at individual players by moving your mouse around the table or you can look at people's chip stacks by hovering your mouse over the players chip stacks. You also get the options to do chip tricks or say specific words or make your character perform specific actions. These can be deemed as tells or as fake tells.

In theory all of this sounds very cute. However, Rivered found that during the beta period (and it was only a beta period) that tables were slow to load, characters were slow to load and if everyone did an action or a chip trick at the same time the game slowed down. However, most alarmingly only around 40-60 hands an hour were being played out due to the speed of the game.

Looks wise the PKR client is great, but is all of this necessary? All of the chip tricks, speech and actions all look good, but do they really serve a purpose? Rivered don't think they do, we think it's just one big gimmick to get non poker players to play poker for real money. If you are a serious poker player and you are looking to make money then surely you want to play on a poker client that allows you to play a much larger number of hands per hour, in the region of 100-120 an hour instead of 40-60. However, there a few really nice features within the PKR client. You can play your hands blind, as you have to look at your cards by clicking a button. You also have the option of showing your cards or just one of them if you win or lose the pot, which is a nice touch. However, overall the poker action seems more like a playstation 2 game rather than a real money poker client.

If you want to have a bit of fun and play something that not only looks good but has an arcade feel to it them PKR is probably the poker client for you. However, if you are a serious poker player and your aim is to make as much money as possible then rivered believe that you would probably want to play on a "normal" poker client where the speed is greater and you get more hands per hour.

However, the official release of PKR has not arrived yet so maybe the speed issue will be fixed once the official release occurs - fingers crossed!

If you download the PKR poker client here and enter the bonus code :
rivered you will get 8% of you rake back.

PKR PLAYERS SHINE IN THE LIVE ARENA
Next-gen site regulars score top finishes in recent live eventsOnline poker site PKR.com has had a number of its regular online players produce some fantastic achievements at recent major live poker events. The APT Macau saw Adrien 'zlatan35' Allen take down the Main Event after winning his way into the tournament through a PKR.com qualifier - his huge $391,556 first prize representing a cool 78,000% return on the $5 he paid for his satellite ticket.
This remarkable achievement from the 23 year old Frenchman was followed up a few days later by PKR Raise Your Game strategy contributor and community favourite Vladimir 'Beyne' Geshkenbein's triumph in the APPT High Roller Event. Having played on PKR.com for the last two years, the 20 year old Russian-born Swiss seems to have perfectly transferred his skills to the live game. He battled through a tough field of accomplished pros such as 2009 WPT winner Yevgeniy Timoshenko, 2007 APPT Grand Final champion Grant Levy and ten-time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan. After an hour of heads up play against Chan, Geshkenbein's super-aggressive style proved too much for the World Series legend with the newly dubbed 'Russian Bomber' scooping the first prize of $226,690.
The recent victories at the Asian tour events follow solid performances from PKR players at this year's WSOP, which included Team PKR Pro James 'james666' Sudworth's seventh place finish in the six-handed NLHE event, as well as some noteworthy cashes from PKR players Ilosvay 'xzseex' Zsolt, Jack' Doctorfun' Powell, and Team PKR Pro player Andy 'GolfPro699' Teng.
Having just celebrated its third birthday, PKR.com continues to establish itself as a major force in the industry, with the realistic 3D software beginning to prove itself a highly effective training ground for the live poker arena.
